Pasture Lambing Clinic Saturday May 31st, 2008 8 AM to 5 PM
Lambing will be in progress.
Students will be given an introduction to the concept of pasture lambing, including an overview of late gestation nutrition and management, and pasture lambing methods. The class will make the rounds observing and processing the morning's lambing. Where possible students will be given the opportunity for hands on learning of basic lamb processing skills. Stockmanship skills such as tube feeding, reviving chilled lambs, catching ewes, and drifting will be demonstrated. In addition to stockmanship skills, students will learn how to judge and measure pasture quality and quantity as well as how to budget pasture.
Tuition $125 includes lunch
