Chip

"The best dog I ever had."

Chip ready to work

Well Chip was a fine Border Collie

Nearly always good natured and jolly

Now she's gone from our home

Greener pastures to roam

Leaving even the sheep melancholy

But surely the shepherd on high

Needs a dog for his flock in the sky

By the heavenly gate

She will lie down and wait

'Till the voice from above says "come bye"

Chip had excellent intuition when working with various livestock. Plenty of power to move ornery cows by biting them on the heels, and quickly ducking to avoid their kick. However, she would never put her mouth on young lambs, but would knock them down with her shoulder instead, so I could catch them. There will never be another dog like Chip.

That'll do Chip.....Good girl

A good dog never dies. He always stays. He walks besides you on crisp autumn days when frost is on the fields and winter's drawing near. His head is within our hand in his old way.
